Canadian Tamils’ History

Canadian Tamils’ History – By Kuru Aravinthan,

Book Launched.

This year’s Ekuruvi Night and Biztha Marketing Excellence Award was held on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017 at the Scarborough Convention Center. In this event, writer Kuru Aravinthan’s ‘Canadian Tamils’ History’ book with articles published in Ekuruvi monthly magazine was launched by Ekuruvi Editor A. Navajeevan. This book is a celebration of Canadian history and the role that the Tamil community has played in shaping it. It’s been over 30 years since the first wave of Tamil immigrants came to Canada. Since then, Tamils have been fortunate enough to extend their selves in all facets of Canadian society; professional, philanthropic, academic, and the arts.

Dr. Jayanthasri Balakrishnan from Tamil Nadu, India, and Mr. Sinnathamby Gunaseelan master from Sri Lanka also participated as special guests. In the book signing event the Hon. Garry Anandasangaree, Member of Parliament for Scarborough-Rouge Park Toronto and Toronto City Councillor Mr. Neethan Shan received a special edition of ‘Canadian Tamils’ History’. The articles in this book are in both English and Tamil, and include previously published work and some new pieces as well.

The vote of thanks speech was delivered by the Kuru Aravinthan and he thanked everyone for their support and helping to make this book launching event a success. A special thanks was given to J.J. Printers, Tamils Guide, and Tamils Information for giving reference for the articles.
